In this segment I'm going to share Andhra Pradesh's traditional dessert minapa sunnudalu. It is very popular sweet dish in Andhra. Because it is given to a pregnant women at her Sree Mantham function in 7th month / 9th month as Saari.
Main Ingredient
Minappappu/ split urad dal 250 gms
Other Ingredients
Whole sugar 125 gms
Powdered sugar 125 gms
Rice 1 1/2 tbsp
Ghee / clarified butter 75 gms
Caradamom (powdered) 4 no.s
Preparation time: 20 mns
Method
1. Dry roast urad dal /minappappu and rice individually into a nice golden brown in a lower / medium flame.
2. In a blender / mixer grind urad dal and rice together into a slight coarse powder. Don't make the
mixture into a fine powder, it could be sticky in the mouth.
3. Make 125 gms sugar into a fine powder.
4. In a bowl/ vessel transfer urad dal mixture, whole sugar and powdered sugar by adding
little by little amount of ghee shape into a fine round balls.
5. You can store the minapa sunnundalu for a few weeks in an air tight container.
